Dear Colleagues,
We need your help! Are you ready to take on a leadership role and help shape the future of AMTPA? Serving as a volunteer Board member is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to our association while enhancing your personal and professional development. By joining the Board, you can make a meaningful impact within your municipality and throughout the province.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., during which we will be electing members to the Board of Directors. Nominations are currently open for the
following positions:
- Vice President
- Director of Relations
- Director of Advocacy
- Director of Communications
- Director of Administration
- Director of Membership
- Auditor
At this time, we are still seeking nominees for the positions of Director of Relations, Director of Advocacy, Director of Administration, and Auditor. If you are interested in serving or would like more information about any of these roles, please contact me at president@amtpa.ca.
AMTPA has also been advised that Municipal Affairs has released amendments to the Business Improvement Area (BIA) Regulation. These amendments have been approved by the Government of Alberta and will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The changes provide greater flexibility and clearer standards for BIA governance, operations, and administration, while maintaining accountability to the businesses that fund and rely on them.
Please refer to the fact sheet for additional information. Should you have any questions or require clarification, you may contact Municipal Affairs at ma.aptp@gov.ab.ca.
Meanwhile, the Conference Committee has been working diligently to create an outstanding conference experience, packed with valuable learning opportunities, engaging discussions, and meaningful networking.
As summer begins to wind down, I wish you all a wonderful and enjoyable end to the season. I look forward to connecting with many of you at the conference in September.
Warm regards,
Denise Schmaltz
